Learning more about HDR

I've been messing about with HDR on and off for a while now. I decided this week to see how HDR techniques could improve shots that I've long forgotten about, so I decided to start a little project and revisit some shot I took whilst on holiday in Iceland a few years back.

I selected some shots and then opened them in Adobe Camera Raw and made some adjustments to get a nice looking shot but whilst leaving the Exposure Value as "0". I then save out 5 TIFF's at -2, -1, 0, +1 and +1 Exposure Value. These I imported into Photomatix to create a HDR image, which was tonemapped and then saved back out as a TIFF. Photoshop CS3 was then used to balance the final image.

I'm not happy with all of the resultant images, but I've posted them all in hope for some feedback as to what you think. So stop reading this and go make a comment or two and let me know ;)
