I think this is a Southern Hawker Dragonfly.
I noticed it on the garden path this evening. I approached it carefully and in some surprise, yet to my amazement it never flew away. Something was definately wrong, dragonflies do not, as far as I'm aware at least, sit on garden paths and let 6'2" tall humans walk right up to them and then NOT fly away. Yep, this poor fella had flown this mortal realm. How it came to end its life on my garden path I'll never know. Dead or not, I couldn't resist having a go at taking a few pictures. I need the practise, and my Angle Finder (90 degree viewfinder extension) arrived today so this was an ideal subject to try it out on and learn abit in the process. Thanks for looking and any comments you care to leave. RIP Mr/Miss/Ms Dragonfly. Canon 20 - Tamron 180mm macro + extension ISO200 F8.0 0.6" exposure Camera rested on a soft cushion and held as steadily in place as I could. Photoshop CS for colour enhancement, sharpening and border. Comments
